Today's post is a rapid-fire style of different interesting topics...
Starting off, there is news related to the redesign of Belmont Street. There's also news about an effort to incorporate a road management system to prioritize redesign & maintenance of the other roads in Watertown.
Of course, the WBPC Bicycle Master Plan turns 10 this year and an update is around the corner. This time, some fresh concepts will be considered for incorporation including (but not limited to) bike boulevards, parklets, greenways, sharrows (portmanteau of "shared" and "arrows"), cycle tracks, improved signage (for bicycles and pedestrians), pedestrian crossings, speed tables, and bicycle parking (that's secure and protected from the weather).
A quick link to the digital version of the Watertown Walks map is available from the WalkBoston.org website.
Lastly, the WBPC is increasing its contact with other advocacy groups including, MAPC, Livable Streets, and Go Green Streets which encourages local businesses to give discounters for "Green" customers on the last Friday of each month.
